RAS102, PROJECT 1 “ The Old Charm of Port Dickson/Lukut ”

Port Dickson/Lukut offer some unique style of architecture. These heritage areas have been a melting pot of different people, cultures, races and religions. The uniqueness of these cities need to be observed and appreciated. 


COURSE LEARNING OUTCOME:
  • To sketch objects and building design based on the understanding of basic design principles and elements including building construction.
  • To elaborate with the aid of drawing on understanding of design principles and building construction.

PROJECT OBJECTIVES:

  • To expose the students with graphic design and nourish their creativity in presenting the ideas selectively and graphically.
  • To enhance students understanding on the building elements and principles of design through observation on existing heritage building/monument/landmark.


TASK & REQUIREMENTS:

  • Students are to produce a 3D model of a Shop House building façade that can be observed within the heritage sites of George Town or heritage buildings at Port Dickson / Lukut
  • The facade model should be composed on (1) A3 board with proper format. (Landscape orientation)
  • The title of the poster is “The Old Charm of Georgetown” for Penang Campus & “The Old Charm of Port Dickson/Lukut” for Port Dickson Campus.
  • For this purpose, a site visit to Georgetown/Port Dickson/Lukut should be made to identify the building.
  • Students are to fill in online spreadsheet on their selected buildings name and address within the trip to make sure the chosen building is different from the others.
  • Student must produce (1) 1:50 scale 3D model of building façade on A3 board
